Who I am in a nutshell: "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success." **Ralph Waldo Emerson**

This is curriculum? Must be history eh?
People wonder why others wig out when the current President of the United States wants to address the schools around the nation....can teachers be trusted to teach kids both sides? From this I think not........

Doesn't it take two?????
Mother protests one-sided suspension
Of course my first reaction to this story it outrage! Why only the boy? Why not the girl? Maybe there are circumstances involved in this that would warrant this disciplinary action from the school but that remains to be discovered.

Complete lack of brains and morals and ethics and, and, and....GRRRRRRRR
"...what leads to their downfall is emotional immaturity."
"...have a poor concept of boundaries, so they don't recognize when they've crossed the line into inappropriate behavior..."
"...come from conflict-ridden families where they didn't learn healthy social skills..."

Can anyone guess what these quotes are referring to? Blame something or someone else and take NO PERSONAL RESPONSIBLITY FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will say no more about this as it will only be more yelling from me. Click 'here' and 'here' to find out what would spur these statements.......
**On a side note, I do hope that once everyone reads the link/s that they too will consider these lost souls to be 'victims' of their own magical thinking.

Must be some sort of mid-life crisis?????
For as much as I've posted on this topic, it NEVER ceases to baffle me why on earth these 'adults' pursue children for their own sexual gratification!!!!!!! It is just a puzzle and one that makes me more and more uncomfortable when I think about my children in school around people they are supposed to trust!! How much are these 'adults' asking these little kids to trust them...that is the million dollar question.

Punish the wrong-doers, not those who abide by the rules
I thought before I head off to the cities to be with my folks that I would put up a quick post. Yes, it's something I've posted on before but at this point, it irritates me still.

What a damn disgrace
I was within a mile from this school today and Pat asked if the media was crawling all over the place. I had no idea what he was talking about but soon found out. He briefed me on the phone about Forest Lake High School's refusal to allow the Vet's for Freedom to make a stop at the school today because of 'political' reasons. The Afghan and Iraq Vet's were told to hold their forum at the local VFW from what I understand.
I find it very amusing how a person from Africa can come to the public schools and talk about their lives and their struggles, or how an author can come to a public school and discuss how they came to be an author and how Pat was just at 2 local schools last week discussing his job as a journalist. NO ONE screamed about any of this stuff, it's all in a day's work and learning about the various opportunities that are out in this world or the various struggles...Hell, one of my kid's teachers discusses her PRIVATE life in class with the students during class time because it's that kind of class where kids can open up and reveal inner secrets, fears, revelations or whatever. And get this, it's not to leave the classroom......
But God forbid, you bring a soldier to the spot light and all hell breaks loose and all these stipulations are laid down and people of 'authority' cave in because they don't want to ruffle anyone's feathers or raise the roof and cause a controversy or heaven forbid.....egads, a protest!!!!!
Are soldiers not human beings? Isn't it a career choice for these young men and women? Shouldn't they also be allowed to discuss what is involved in their everyday life? War is life, this life is about a friggin' war and it's one that we battle every day as civilians and we discuss it FREELY amongst our friends and others. Why do people insist on stifling the mouths of soldiers, those who actually may need our support, our ear in order to heal from the things they have seen at the young ages that they have! Shame on you people!!!!!!!!
Forest Lake High School Principal Massey is a disgrace to this country and I am sad to reveal that he lurks only miles from my presence. And the worst part of it? The organizer of the Vets For Freedom is a former student of this high school...what a slap in the face!

When stick figures become a reason for suspension
Well, I opened this to put up a post on the 6-year old boy who was suspended from school for drawing stick figures pointing guns at each other's heads but I closed that link. OH, here it is...First-grader suspended over drawing I guess, to me, suspension is kind of an over reaction to something this little.
Hell, a girl drew that exact sort of picture about my daughter, with her name on the figure that was to be shot, in 6th grade at age 12 and that girl didn't get suspended. There was a conference with the parents and the child and the problem was solved.
Could it be that because this little kid is a boy that the school took such drastic actions? Or is the pc thing just becoming so anal that no matter what a little child does it will be wrong and eventually there will be a jail for kids under the age of 8. Who knows. Such as the little girl charged with drawing grafitti when she was only coloring on the sidewalk with sidewalk chalk. All the same to me, RIDICULOUS!
I don't know about you but I can certainly see one in our future.
Have a great day.......

Wake up people--or are you on drugs?
If Christian Holidays shouldn't be 'crammed' down the throats of those who just don't want it to be a part of this world, than neither should Muslim Holidays. Oh, and lets not forget that Christians don't demand that ALL people, teachers and students, should dress up like Jesus, or Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. Decorations are and have always been a traditional part of the Christian and Jewish holidays yet I don't remember in all my years here on this planet ever feeling forced to celebrate those traditions or else.
Hang all the decorations one wants to note their traditional beliefs both religiously and celebratory. I don't give a tahooty about that, it's a free country right? Or is it...
We should embrace the Muslims and their traditions eh? Those 'peace-loving' beings only want to be accepted.
The big questions that aren't going to be answered for many years to come about whether or not the Muslims just want to live in this country peacefully will loom over our heads. For as much as one would like to accept their presence here, it gets a little difficult when their religion is being crammed down our throats at a level that is a do-it-or-else suggestion.
Embrace all of our beliefs and lay off the 'or-else' part and perhaps this world can be a peaceful place full of acceptance....however, since the attack of 9/11, I don't see that as an alternative.

The European Way
Children are naturally curious, they have questions, they explore, they are human.
HOWEVER, what mentality is it that advocates for 'sexplay' in kindergarten?
When did it become a negative to TEACH children when it's appropriate and how to sexually conduct themselves when their curiosity gets the best of them?
How is it that allowing children to engage in the exploration of their sexuality will NOT lead to more young boys being labeled sex offenders at the ripe old age of 6 for touching a little girl on the butt? Well, perhaps a little girl will be labeled but what are the odds?
If it's considered negative to 'discipline' a young child for inappropriate sexual exploration, where is that line then drawn as these children get older?
And what of the child that isn't comfortable with 'sexual exploration'? Will that child then be reprimanded and ostracized from the more 'sexually conscious' child and deemed a freak? Will their parent's be tagged as neglectful? Abusive?
If a boy smacks a girl on the butt in the hallway, should he not just be said to be 'exploring' his sexual curiosity instead of put on trial, tagged with a sexual harassment file, and labeled for life ?
Thank God my kids are growing up, although I do find myself telling them NOT to have children because of what this world is teaching today's children.
And Thank God I don't live in Norway!!!!!!

What is American?
OH BUT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!
North Carolina is still in America right? I just want to clarify that it is in fact an American state. Perhaps it's too difficult for people these days to determine which things should be supported and which things should not. Perhaps there's just simply too many restrictions and politically correct philosophies out in the world skewing the real things in life.
I know I'm a couple days late with this post, but I haven't had much time for the news these days. The restrictions of children in the schools wearing patriotic clothing is really getting out of hand in what I once thought was 'America'.
Our daughter wore her fatigues to school on 9/11 in honor of the soldiers and instead of being told to leave the building and suspended for the rest of her senior year, an actual authority figure walked up to her, grabbed her hand, thanked her for her service profusely and kissed the top of her hand! Thankfully, her school isn't as strict or as anal as some but you can bet that if it ever gets to that point I will raise some hell!

Money talks, students listen
Now kids will be paid to go to school. Oh, excuse me, to 'stay' in school. I didn't realize one could get paid for receiving an education. What happens when they graduate...do they get continuing funding for college which will include an increase to $50 a week? Man, I should move so my schooling that I'll be doing will be paid for! Anyone wanna buy my house? I gotta move!
It pays exactly $25 for Tucson kids to stay in school
Pathetic, bribery, and desparate! I guess $25 a week is nothing considering the amount schools get to have these kids attend! Small potatoes. So the question remains...are they honestly that concerned about the kids and their education or is it just a matter of recieving the thousands of dollars for that student to remain in school?

Hey, I'm straight so arrest me
What has happened to this country? For as long as I can remember there has been racism, hatred, bigotry, name calling but I don't recall people being fired or sued for it.
As a kid, there were certain words that were taboo...the N word or the F word, words that would directly get me shot or hurt or that were just disrespectful to another human being.
I am not one who takes those words lightly but I am also not one who would scream at another for using them. If a person chooses to be nasty and mean to another, that's their problem, it's not my business. I am responsible for me, my actions and my words. Yet some would say that is part of the problem, I just don't care. Oh, I care if it's my kids spewing it or a close friend or my hubby or my parents or family but not enough to put them out like a lit match.
Really, why is it the world's business, all this politically correct garbage? Why? It's getting people fired, it's causing kids to be suspended from school, it's headlines for pete's sake. There's a war going on in Iraq, murders being committed...oh, some by those who feel slighted and discriminated against who we should all really feel sorry for. There are so many more important things going on that are being ignored but the feelings of people seem to be up front and foremost.
White, black, asian, japanese, hmong, indian, mexican, christian, lutheran, johovahs witness, scientologist, along with numerous others out there have been ridiculed and seen in a harsh light. Growing up, I learned to just walk away from something that I didn't like or agree with. Call me selfish but I am me, I feel it's important to live up to my own standards and not those that are attempts to indoctrinate me, and it's my responsibility to watch my own back. And these days it seems that you must always have an eye on the back of your head for safety's sake.
Now, it's necessary for straight people to announce that they are in fact straight only they get suspended from school or are called homophobes or whatever. What is it called when a lesbian or a gay parades around that they are gay? Acceptable behavior?
Apparently in this case it is: Michigan student suspended for wearing 'I'm straight' sticker
I guess being straight, white and Christian is now a suspendable thing eh? I wonder when it will be considered criminal?

Shirking responsiblity is like the invention of the remote
In this world today it seems that the quicker a solution can be made the better and life will move on for those too damn selfish to face responsibility. Such is the case with this morning after pill that I really have a problem with.
Schools handing out morning after pill to under-age girls backed by Ofsted
Let's teach the kids that the way to solve possible pregnancy is to simply pop a pill and life will be grand. Let's push more and more drugs into the systems of these kids and teach them that instead of facing responsibility that they can just....erase it and pretend it never happened. Oh, and pop pills. So much for the war on drugs. Oh, that's illegal drugs isn't it. Duh...
Move on to day two, kids have sex again, get pregnant and again sweep it under the rug with the simple pop of a pill. Not only are they pushing drugs but they're encouraging young kids to participate in something that to me, is a sacred act, something that should be taken a little more seriously than just a one night stand.
For many the 'simple' solutions are not always the best nor are they the answer. These girls will one day grow up and have to live with the guilt of killing a baby. What if in the end, the girls have a terrible accident or develop some disease that will render them unable to have a child? How will they feel then? And are these even words that are mentioned to these girls? Do these girls get an opportunity to really think about what they're doing or are the nurses to damn busy being pill pushers to take the time to explain future feelings, complications or the what-ifs?
The act of abortion, the act of simply taking a pill to eliminate a 'problem' is not the answer. People must live with these decisions for the rest of their lives. I know some and know that the decisions they made as kids, they wish they could take back. Do I pity them? Curious minds would love to know.
In the case of schools administering this type of thing to under-age children? Um, don't even get me started there! That does not sit well with me and I could rant for hours on that one.
Eliminating the teaching of abstinence and downplaying how perhaps a condom could be effective? Again, don't even get me started.
Kids are not stupid! They can and will grasp the concept of abstinence, self respect and the idea of safe sex.I was taught abstinence in high school, I was not taught complete abstinence in school, I was taught about both. It's how I chose that made the difference.
Sex was not taken lightly when I was a kid, disease was not underplayed nor were the use of condoms and other contraception. I was taught about RESPONSIBLE sex, about having a little self respect, tricks that were used to get people in bed, and mostly that sex wasn't something that should be taken for granted or used as entertainment. I was TAUGHT! And amazingly, I learned that sex isn't something that should be done 'because it's fun' or 'because all my friends are doing it'.
Is it the concept of laziness and speedy solutions that is running this world? In MHO....that's a big YES!

Should the teacher have intervened?
...."Cat Fight!!!!.....
It seems that girls fighting has been in the news a little more these days. This story just another example.
Now, this teacher, a male, is being accused of standing by and letting the fight go on.
The big question is, should he have intervened and broken up this fight or should he have done exactly what he was supposed to do and call an administrator?
If it were my daughter, the school policy being that administration is to be called immediately, but the fight goes on, would I be upset? If my daughter was near death, hell yes. If my daughter is dumb enough to get into a fight in the first place and have a few bruises? Probably not. I would be more angry with my daughter and this other girl than I would at the teacher. But that's just me.
It brings to mind the mosh pit in our daughter's middle school and the day our daughter came home with a broken wrist. In that situation, teachers/authorities were not monitoring the hallways, they were ignoring the chaos, they didn't call us to let us know our daughter was hurt, and they wouldn't allow our daughter to go to the nurse. My anger was directed at the school due to negligence in more than one sense. But we took care of the problem and didn't call the local media nor did we sue them. And our daughter was reprimanded accordingly by us for involving herself in something completely inappropriate for the school hallway.
Ok, my take on this cat fight. If this teacher, a male, had broken up these two female girls fighting, what are the chances that his hand, while trying to intervene, could have brushed up on an area of the girl that some would deem, inappropriate? What are the chances that in the end, this teacher would be labeled a sick man, brought up on charges for assault or sexual misconduct? I may be reaching here but honestly, in society today, certain measures must be taken in order to protect yourself. But I notice in the article, a female administrator was brought in to break up this fight between the two girls. In this case, school protocol was followed. In the case of our daughter's broken wrist, it took a few phone calls from us parents to create some sort of stir to get the school to even act or notice. Hello!
He was following protocal, lets nail the jerk because he was following school policy...give me a break! People will go to any length to take the focus off of their unruly kids, to pin the blame on another.
I am so sick and tired of this mentality that I could puke! Taking accountability for the actions of yourself or your children is so lacking in this country. I just don't get it.
In my eyes, this teacher was damned if he did and damned if he didn't!

I'm a little late on this story but had I known it was out there I would have pounced on it! Thanks for the heads up hubby and a hat tip to: The Kool Aid Report
Hilltop Children's Center
Banning LEGOs
Umm, banning Legos of all things. Why? Perhaps it's time to ban children's centers and pre-schools.
When I did daycare, I certainly didn't do it to force them not to be creative, assertive, imaginative creatures. Nor did I ever discourage them using their fine motor skills.
Right up there with banning tag at recess or running...the morons in this country come out of the woodwork every day. Our poor kids! I'm really glad mine never had to suffer in pre-school.
Hilltop Children's Center
Banning LEGOs
Umm, banning Legos of all things. Why? Perhaps it's time to ban children's centers and pre-schools.
We'll let them explain: "We agreed that we want to take part in shaping the children's understandings from a perspective of social justice. So we decided to take the LEGOs out of the classroom. The children were building their assumptions about ownership and the social power it conveys — assumptions that mirrored those of a class-based, capitalist society — a society that we teachers believe to be unjust and oppressive."Now why don't they just pass a damn bill in congress to take out any sort of motor skills or imagination when it comes to the kids?!!! Honestly, I don't even understand what the hell these 'teachers' are saying!
"After months of what the teachers called "social justice exploration" — they let the LEGOs back in — but kids were only allowed to build "public structures" of standard sizes in a village dedicated to what they called "collectivity and consensus."From this paragraph I gather that now in order to raise the Stepford Children that this society is trying to create, we now must tell them at an early age just what they can build and how they can play with their toys.

In the end, what's best for the kids really doesn't matter
This is a principal that really needs a lesson in the importance of family, the idea that not all people think or believe like he does, and someone who doesn't belong in the educational system if he cannot separate his own beliefs for the sake of these kids and this father! What a first class jerk...
Sure, he seems to be changing his tune but this should have NEVER even been an issue!

Sexth...oops, sixth grade students learning more about shop class
I usually just add an update to my previous posts about that particular post but this was something that I thought deserved it's own separate post.
Yes, it's about the sex...oh, sorry the sixth grade students having six...oh, I mean sex, in the classroom.
The attorney for the school district has weighed in as have parents of the surrounding area. I just have to point out the attorney's take on this whole situation because he is such an idiot! Maybe it's ok for his kids to observe something, or he might recommend that this would've have been better if the students would have performed in health class....at least then he could advocate a grading system for the act of sex and just how well these 11 or 12 year olds performed could determine the grading curve.
If this is what is defending the schools in this country then we have some pretty serious problems. Not like we don't already. If it's ok to hide this sort of thing from a community and from parents who might just give a damn about what goes on with their kids in schools, the public school system needs less funding and better guidance from those parents who do care. And perhaps funding a better attorney would be a good start for this district.
What a putz this guy is. Here's the gems I pulled from the article.
This quote from one parent that will lead to the exerpts from the dumbass:
Some moronic quotes regarding this from the attorney:

Parents in the district are outraged.
"It just upsets me because it sounds like they're trying to make excuses. It doesn't matter to me how long it was, you know, 30 seconds, 30 minutes; it's too long. I want to know where the teacher was and how this was able to happen," said Laura Pliquett, who has a nine-year-old possibly headed to Raymond Park.
Some moronic quotes regarding this from the attorney:
"The 30 seconds, that's not even a consideration - it's the fact that something occurred," said Kevin McDowell, the attorney for the Indiana Department of Education. He says districts often consult him on serious legal matters, but says this is the first he's heard of the Raymond Park incident."School officials refuse to comment on sex incident
and,
"McDowell agrees parents have legitimate issues about classroom supervision - but has a different take concerning students who may have witnessed the activity:
"This doesn't pose any danger to the other students even if they did see it," he said.
When asked for claification, McDowell repeated his stance.
"All right, so they may have witnessed this. While this is an activity you certainly don't see in a school and it's something that would be certainly unusual, I don't feel - I don't know where it posed any immediate danger to those children who saw it," McDowell said."

Higher Education "outside of the book"
School district: Sixth graders had sex in class
Sixth graders already putting on a 'show' of sorts for their classmates inside of a school, inside of a classroom, while a teacher is present. So much is wrong with this.
Since we have a child in sixth grade, I find this to be a very uncomfortable moment. I can't imagine nor do I even want to imagine such things of children of this age. They are so naive and clueless.
Where would the idea to do this in front of a class full of your friends come from? Where would the idea to do this knowing full well you could get caught come from? Why didn't the other children in the classroom say something instead of watching the spectacle? Why wasn't the teacher more aware of what was going on before the act took place?
The article states that it's a shop class and it gives students the opportunity to learn outside of the book. Well, that is definately an understatement unless porn mags are the book of choice for sixth grade shop class.
The last disturbing thing is something that Pat and I discussed briefly. This has been kept a secret for months--since November. A resident of the area tipped off news sources.
Yes, this would be an embarrassing thing for a parent to have to deal with as well as the school district. But it doesn't say in this article if in fact all the parents of all of the kids involved were notified. Or if the school took steps to let the entire sixth grade population in on this because rumors do occur.
This is not something that necessarily should be news worthy for people like myself who lives hundreds of miles away. But it is questionable to read that this story was kept under wraps for so many months by the school. Of course they don't want to discuss it and would rather bury it as deep as they can but that won't happen now.

This woman has some big kajones!!
First and foremost, you really have got to LOVE this headline. Stripped naked...in my eyes this child was completely unclothed standing in all his glory for his classmates to see. God, I just love how the MSM words things so maliciously.
Second Grader Stripped Naked, Spanked in Front of Classmates
If the aunt had a good reason for this spanking, then all the power to her. And frankly, I do like how the school originally handled it. And the teacher obviously didn't see what this woman did as abusive but more of a form a discipline because she stood and watched.
They respected the family in this matter, until a parent had to call in and cried foul. Shocker!
Maybe the pulling down of the pants in front of the class could have been a little too much but I can tell you this, that boy will NEVER forget that moment of his life. I just hope that he sways in the direction of appreciating it and not blaming it for some mental disorder because that's what society would teach him to do.
Didn't punishment of a swat on the fingers with a ruler or a whipping occur in schools way back when? And not by the parents but by the teacher? If kids were coming home with black eyes or multiple bruises all over them, I may have said...hey, if you can beat my child than I guess I can too. But for another to spank my child probably wouldn't sit well with me.
Kudos to this aunt for bravely doing something that in this day and age is so damn controversial, it has caused many parents to back off and fear a simple good old fashioned spanking.

"Certainly if there is a reason to contact social services regarding an adult's actions we would do that," said John White, Prince George's County School District."
"On Monday, it's principal sent a letter home to parents saying:
"Please know that the incident is a family matter and should not have occurred in a school setting. All interactions were between the child and a family member."

SILENCE!!!!!!!!
Some joke!!!! Threatening to cut the tongue of a 7-year old to get him to be quiet. And then actually DOING IT! This substitute was incapable of keeping the kids quiet without using threats and weapons? And she only had to watch the class for a few minutes according to the article.
Teacher 'cut boy's tongue' to silence him
What are teachers being taught in college? Corporal punishment, how to have sex with minors and how not to control a classroom.
And the cops are waiting to press charges on this woman until they determine if it was a joke or not?????? What is that? If a parent threatened their child and claimed it was a joke you can bet that the cops, social workers and the parenting experts would be all over their backs for this!!!
Or let me throw this one in there...what if it were a male teacher who did this? What do you think would have been done in that instance? Inquiring minds want to know....
