I've been reading many articles about this Trayvon Martin shooting. At first when I read about it last week I questioned whether or not Zimmerman shot this kid in self defense but have since begun to rethink that.
Last week, there was no mention of a good reason why this boy was shot other than he was a suspicious looking character in the neighborhood. Zimmerman, the 'killer', was being painted as someone who had some personal vendetta against black people and damn if it didn't almost drag me in.
Our own president, who I am not a big fan of, even chimed in so good grief, there has to be some injustice going on--especially for the leader of our country to speak out on the murder of a single man considering all the other murders that take place on any given day. This one just has to be special. Although, I am not really that naive..perhaps it is just that part of me that tries very hard remember there are two sides to every story.
What I have learned from all my reading is that there most certainly is an injustice going on. I have sat for hours reading more and more about this. My own personal belief now is that this whole media blow up of racism, the president's reaction, Spike Lee posting the 'murderers' address on Twitter not once but twice--except they weren't really the murders address but that of an elderly couple who are now terrified, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, the 'p****-ass Cracker' t-shirt wearing children, hoodies on the senate floor, the mother trademarking her deceased child's name, protests and storming of a Walgreens...ALL of them are making a huge mistake and one that is maddening.
I won't elaborate much more other than to say that I am appalled at the President of the United States--why? He should be standing up and pulling on the reins of this runaway train as more and more information begins to surface. All that outrage I read about last week seemed very real, very reasonable...after the things I've read up to today....my own outrage is for a man who should really be setting an example of a proud man, a proud race, a proud country. Instead the hateful words are still being doled out everywhere...
There is so much I could say about both sides of this but I cannot. But I will say this...once someone who finds this post offensive you can be damn sure that because I am angry with the President for his lack of upstanding behavior I will be labeled a racist; and the mere fact that I am even posting on it I will be accused of making this political as is already starting to occur. It's funny too because it seems to me that the shooter is a registered democrat, the majority of those protesting or wearing hoodies on the senate floor are more than likely liberal and democrat and here I sit in my home, reading all about these follies, shaking my head, becoming very concerned about what will be the result of this mess and it will be me that is a hater, a cracker, a racist, a murderer.....is that NOT how things have been going since I have become a blogger??? Yeah, pretty much..but oh well.
I am very sorry for the death of Trayvon to his parents, to all his friends and family. I am sorry that Zimmerman will have to live with this for the rest of his life and god help him live a good long life. I say that because the way things have been going there really is no telling how safe that man and his family will ever be again. What I am most sorry about is how this one death has been made so very important above so many others in this life I have lived and for what may be reasons that equate to nothing more than self defense. How will people accept that as a reason with so many strong leaders screaming 'cold blooded murder' or worse, remaining silent as the havoc unfolds.....
Who I am in a nutshell: "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success." **Ralph Waldo Emerson**

WHY????
The obsession with Sarah Palin's daughter from the left continues! Larry King, what the hell business is it of his to know WHERE sex took place in the Palin home. I'm surprised he didn't ask how and what position...good grief.
And also, is it me or does it seem as though King is trying to provoke some sort of custody dispute over the baby? I watched the video and Johnston clearly states that he likes the family, that he can go see the baby but just can't right now because it's uncomfortable for HIM.
It sure is interesting to read all the various articles about this and see just how the media hypes and inflates stories and turns them into filth! As for King? Get a life already!

Update on the bus accident

While this woman's legal status has very little to do with this accident, it doesn't change the fact that she broke the law, sped through a stop sign and hit that school bus and killed 4 young children. All the same, it has been determined that she is in fact an illegal alien! Many already know how I feel about that. What's worse is she had been cited on another occasion for driving without a valid drivers license.
YES FOLKS, SHE WAS DRIVING WITH A STATE ID AND HAS BEEN CITED FOR THIS BEFORE IN 2006!!!!
While this article is trying to tug at the heartstrings of the readers because "She's grief-stricken about the accident," Guerrero said of his client. "She's hurting about what happened to the kids." my heart hardens even more! I have no pity...NONE, ZERO, ZILCH, NADA!!!!!! My heart is with those parents who have to learn to live without their children. If in fact this was TRULY an accident, the sun played a role or some freak thing, I would feel some pity for the woman. I am not heartless but I am when it comes to people who break the law in more ways than one.
Click the link and read more if you so desire. I am outta here for the weekend....yippee! Homework is done and a weekend away with the hubby

The New Global Warming Trend
Since the Polar Bear flopped as the face of global warming due to environmentalists making up stories and stealing photos from unsuspecting college students who went on vacation, it seems the new 'poster critter' for Global Warming has waddled it's way into the spotlight:

Here's some light reading on that :
However, following that reading, perhaps this might even out the mind a little and how there are definitely more sides to this then the ruination of our planet by us horrible humans:
Skeptical Scientists Urge World To ‘Have the Courage to Do Nothing' At UN Conference
**note the bold additions to this last column/article, cracked me up a bit.

An early tribute to Dads

With Father's Day just around the corner isn't it so appropriate to find this article?
The Psychology of Fatherhood
This statement in particular: "What's less clear is whether dads--at least as a group--have done a good enough job to deserve the honor."
So tell me, is there EVER an article about moms that is this insulting or harsh? Why is it that father's are always the bad guys? Oh, that's because they're guys..duh!
I know MANY great fathers who work their butts off to support their families, their kids, and some who even work double time so that mom can stay home with their kids. My dad was one of them and my mom pulled the weight on the other end. In other words, they worked as a team. And regardless of the fact that my father was rarely home, it was the quality of that time I did have with him that paid off, not the quantity.
I know plenty of fathers who go that extra mile to see their kids events, to teach their kids, who take time to go fishing or hunting with their kids, who take them to sporting events or sit through that endless dance recital and smile. But because dads aren't there to spend every waking moment with their kids they are chastised and raked through the mud. Because these dads are out there working to make ends meet, they aren't really being dads at all. They're just out there working their lives away because they do so enjoy the challenge and spending their days at work. Gee, who wouldn't love to just live to work all the time!!!!
On the other hand, I know a HANDFUL of dead beat dads who want nothing to do with their kids. Dads who have tried desparately to hang on to a relationship with their kids despite the relationship with their significant other only to be dragged through the court system, charged massive amounts in child support, and badgered so much by the mother of these children that it's just easier for them to walk away and hope that one day when their kids are adults that those kids will grow up to understand how very difficult it was for the father to be around them due to unsettling circumstances.
Do I agree that fathers should just walk away from their kids? No but man or woman, the human spirit can only take so much abuse before their mojo is shattered! Before they are emotionally, physically and financially drained to the point of seeking refuge in a new life. And I might add that the children are at least left in the hands of the mom's more times then not. If the mom's would appreciate more what dad's have to offer perhaps they wouldn't be left to raise those children on their own. It takes two.
I am so tired of dad's taking a beating in the media. Women, MOM'S to be exact, are no damn angels either. They work, they spend only a couple hours a day with their kids, they go out and are guilty of many of the same things that fathers are with the whole women's rights movement yet they are deemed as hard working loving moms who sacrifice so much. Give me a break.
It would be nice if the negativity surrounding fathers would disappear, if women could take a stand and recognize that they are no more hard working and loving parents then the men who help to pay the bills or mow the lawn or clean that kitchen or coach their children's sports.
After all, wasn't the whole women's liberation thing about equality and being able to do the things that men do? Stop tipping the scale and recognize the good that all do and be grateful to those men out there who are good, honest, loving, hard working fathers.
In my humble opinion, dad's deserve this honor as much as the woman next door! It's just too damn bad that people like these writers of this article can't get past their own bitterness towards men.
To all you dad's out there? Here's wishing you an early "Happy Dad's Day"! Kudos to those of you who sacrifice for the sake of your families.

Even the animals are jealous of each other

Yan Yan, 22-year-old panda, dies in Berlin zoo
Not only is the media causing humans to hate each other, it seems that they are now pointing fingers at animals.
Not only is the media causing humans to hate each other, it seems that they are now pointing fingers at animals.

I think the zoo should have taken some precautions with all the publicity that Knut was obviously going to get after the activists wanted him dead and done more to make sure the other animals weren't scared. But who's to say Yan-Yan the panda was just old and tried of life?

Polar rival finds fame too much to bear
I do feel bad for the panda but would like to point out that if these attention seeking activists hadn't wanted Knut dead then perhaps Yan-Yan would still be alive.

Bill Maher is a pig!
I've been really trying to ignore the nasty comments on the whole Dick Cheney assassination attempt but have had enough. Maher, Huffington...too bad that Huffington removed the comments and certain posts from her site about this...from what I've read, they were pretty bad. I guess again, I should not be surprised should I?
When is it that it became okay to publically wish a political figure dead? A man who has a family who just happens to be the VP is nearly killed by a bomb and it's 'too bad he didn't die'? What is missing in the lives of these people that they have to be so vicious and evil?
I really hope that HBO looks into the Maher show but I guess I won't get my hopes up. Something that should have been done a long time ago in my opinion.
Go check out News Busters...a site I have frequented quite a bit as of late. It's a place notorious for outing the evil that comes from the mouths of these who feel it's a 'right' to wish another dead or who love to bash the administration, or who simply have that foot in mouth syndrome.

Mother Nature is not choosy
The tornado that killed the students in Alabama has been a pretty big deal on the news. As it should be. It's a tragedy, the wrath of Mother Nature taking the lives of the kids.
What could have been done differently? First and foremost, there will always be that lingering question, what if? Or the, shoulda, coulda, woulda nagging. It is truly a sad outcome. Sure, let the kids out amidst a morning full of sirens and warnings...have them drive home or walk home unsure of what might occur within the moments of them leaving. Worse case scenario is that wrath would have come then and the school district would have come under fire for that decision.
Imagine too that the superintendent of that school is feeling a mountain of guilt and grief and wishing that he could change all the decisions he made that day! Don't forget, he too is grieving the loss of these kids who are his responsibility when on school time.
I know all too well that people who are grieving and suffering the loss of a loved one 9 times out of 10 seek out someone to blame. It's a common step in the grieving process. But the media has really taken liberties with this I think and is encouraging that step with stories that paint those in the middle of the mess as the ones to blame.
Ala. School Warned Hours Before Tornado
Why not blame the builders of the school for the deaths of these children? Or the roofers who didn't reinforce the roof? Or why not blame the parents for sending their kids to school in the first place? Or the parents for not coming to the school and picking up their kids or getting them released early? Why not blame me because I live in Minnesota?
Or, more importantly, why not look at this situation and realize that no one can predict what will be when it comes to Mother Nature. That it's always best to err on the side of safety, which I believe the school did. How in the heck were they supposed to know that the school would collapse? HOW???
One woman is quoted as saying:
And this woman said it herself..."It came real fast"...Hello lady, you contradict yourself here...it came real fast but they had plenty of time....apparently she's an expert on tornadoes, and the rate of speed at which they come? She could have made a much better decision when it comes to the lives of these kids right?
While I am truly sad for the loss of these 8 kids, I am also truly sad that there are people in the MSM that would get behind the mentality that there must be some sort of justice served every single time a death occurs, no matter how little the humans could control it.
One cannot predict what wrath mother nature will bring nor the fate of another person's life. Help the families of these children through their pain and stop trying to be the valiant ones by seeking justice for a force that is beyond the reach of human control!

"It came real fast, but they had plenty of time to get those kids out because sirens were going off all morning," said Pearl Green, whose 15-year-old niece attends the school and was hit in the head by a flying brick.I don't know about the rules of weather in Alabama but when the sirens are going off in MN, you best well be in a safe place. And what, are the school officials supposed to send those kids home between sirens because they go off at specific intervals. "Hey kids, the siren stopped, you have 5 minutes to get home, hurry go, before the next siren goes off."

Doomsday revisited
I remember when I was pretty young laying on the floor in the living room with my brother watching tv. He looked at me and said, "Did you know that tonight the world's going to end?" Being somewhere around 6-9 at the time, I got scared. I asked him what he meant and he said that it's D-Day. Of course I asked him what D-Day was and he said "doomsday". I have never forgotten the next day where I threw it in his face that the world didn't end. But the most perplexing thing was how very serious he was about that, how much he believed that.
Ironically, I was on the phone today with my mom and she brought this up. This very moment in life. I was thinking about it earlier today because this article brought it to mind. But she said that he was so convinced that the world was going to end that night that he stayed home from going to a movie or something because he just wanted to go to bed. He was that convinced.
Hmmmm. Who would've convinced him of that? The media? The schools? Television? Either way, this article has some similarities that strike a deja vu with me.
Global warming concerns are keeping children awake at night
Why do you think kids are worried? Could it be that the hype surrounding such issues is scaring the crap out of the kids?

No, Don't buy me flowers...paaaleeaze!
Valentine bouquets 'are bad for the planet'
It's just Valentines Flowers, come on ladies, we can make it without the obligatory bouquet now can't we? In the end, it's because the men love us that we are contributing to the demise of our planet so in essence, its ALL the men's hearts faults right? Or is it our fault because we MADE them love us with our sweet ways? Oh, well, either way...we must seek other means when hinting for gifts from our spouses...oh, and women, you can't buy flowers either.
Thee most ridiculous item of my day is this article that my hubby told me about while I was driving home from work tonight. Needless to say I sped up a little bit more than my usual pace because I just HAD to read this article and post on it!!!! After all, it is really an eye opener to how HORRIBLE flowers are to this planet.
In fact, why don't these overboard global warming activists take it a step further and as hubby said, 'Ban all international flights' and kill two birds with one stone.
Ahhh, now I feel complete!

It's pity party time
Warning: I must vent.
Feminism, isn't it lovely? I mean really, all the crying and the leaps and bounds that have been accomplished for women are in some ways a wonderful thing but in other ways, eye rolling. The pity party. Time to pity the fools that bite off more then they can chew.
It's NASA's fault that Nowack went haywire. All NASA's fault. Oh **chuckle**. I knew it was coming, that it had to be someone's fault this woman went off the deep end. I bet it was because they made her wear a diaper!
How many astronauts are there to date? And how many have gone off the deep end due to:
"a side of the Nasa programme largely hidden from view, a world of brutal competition, relentless pressure and psychological strain."
From my count, just this one but then again, I haven't researched it. In my opinion? The woman wasn't able to handle it, plain and simple. Perhaps NASA had it's reasons for this:
"Nowak had been an astronaut for 10 years before she finally flew last summer, one of the last in her class to go on a mission. The waiting and the sense of failure took a toll, said Hickam."
"Some of the members of her class had flown two or three times in front of her and somebody in Nasa told me that she sent out Christmas cards every year saying this is the year I'm going to fly', and it just never happened. So I think by the time that she was selected, all of this disappointment in Nasa and in the programme had made her personality pretty brittle."
Maybe they felt that she wasn't good space travel material? Who knows. But my favorite thing in this article?
"In addition to the pressures of her Nasa career, Nowak is a mother to three children - a teenage boy and twin five-year-old girls. And like other working mums, she had to juggle the competitive demands of her high-flying career with the challenges of parenting.
"They made more sacrifices than the right stuff' guys,'' said Dr Jon Clark, a former Nasa flight surgeon who lost his astronaut wife in the 2003 Columbia disaster. "They have to balance two careers, be a mom, wife and an astronaut. You don't come home at night, like most of the male astronauts, and have everything ready for you.'' In an often tabloid-driven, jaded era, astronauts have remained one of the few professions never tainted by scandal and still held in awe by the American public. But that esteemed status means little within the unforgiving confines of Nasa."
These women don't HAVE to balance two careers, they choose to do such.
At the dinner table nearly every night my dad would ask me when I wouldn't be eating, "Hey Screw (short for Screwy Louie), are your eyes bigger than your stomach?" In the case of Nowack? Her life's dream was much more than she could handle.
