Why not ask those soldiers currently fighting this war or who have been there what they think needs to be done to help this war? Why not read the blogs of soldiers and get their opinions?
Just because the Dems 'feel' that sending in more troops is the wrong thing to do because its not popular with the American public, does that automatically mean that they have carte blanche over the final decision?
I see this opposition daily and everytime I do I get this image in my head. Those soldiers in the midst of this, it's like the dems and those reps who disagree with Bush, are leaving the soldiers in a lurch over there. Forgetting that they may in fact need the extra help. They're just a bunch of sitting ducks!

Senate plans vote against troop surge
A plan was laid out in the speech, a last ditch effort to maybe take steps forward in a war that has been a thorn in everyone's lives and sides. War is hell, it is not peace. Mistakes are made in the decision making. If those mistakes are not given the opportunity to be rectified, our troops over there now and those who relieve them will never get home!
I have yet to hear a solid alternative to a troop surge except, "Get our troops home!" When you opposers have a great idea on just how that should be done I am more than listening! Until then, perhaps its you who need to listen!
Who I am in a nutshell: "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success." **Ralph Waldo Emerson**
