Has anyone ever heard the story of Lois Jurgens? A horribly tragic story of an adoptive mommy dearest who tortured and killed little 3-year old Dennis Jurgens, a boy she adopted. I read the book called 'A Death in White Bear Lake'. Yes, it happened in Minnesota back in 1965 and it was very hard to read about such an evil act upon a child.
Another story out of Maplewood, Minnesota sparked that memory. A woman who suffocated her 23-month old baby while living in a shelter. Upon doing the autopsy, they found that the baby was covered with old injuries. Burns, bruises, and other injuries.
Most disturbing is that this woman has 7 kids! Her last born she named after the son she killed. Social workers were warned by foster homes about this mother and her inability to properly tend to her kids during supervised visits. It's just a case that makes me so very angry and sad.
Mourning of child is left to others
Unintentional murder...with the evidence of injuries on a little boy who wasn't even on this earth for 2 years, how in the hell can they call it unintentional????? How can a person just not know that they are hurting a child to the point of death???? Insanity I suppose but really.
And there was no one at the trial to speak for this child. No family, no friends, social workers, no one. A child truly left to slip quietly through the cracks never to be known!
I see these stories, don't know why I have to vent about them but it truly sickens me!
Who I am in a nutshell: "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success." **Ralph Waldo Emerson**
