A very well deserved award

Last night hubby and I attended his annual awards ceremony/shareholders meeting for his company. The first one as he was too new and the weather was bad for last year.

It's very strange to be a part of a company that is so big, that hosts parties and that generally welcomes growth. This is the second party that we've gone to in less than 3 weeks. As those who have been reading my journal for longer know, rough roads led to this job for P. It's now been just over a year and things have settled down quite nicely.

Anyway, we went to this meeting. P was up for an award we knew. So, yes, he received a 2nd place plaque for best investigative reporting out of 35 or so other entrants I believe? This company is pretty good size and sitting there last night looking at all those who make it work was really an accepting feeling. A bizzarro feeling. Food, conversation, speakers...and this company puts out quite a bit for their employees. The food is great, dessert is even better, and discounts on hotel/motel rooms. Let's just say that the jobs within our area leave much to be desired. Sure, they pay the bills but not much else. Anyway....

P has also put a good amount of time into working with a team to get this newspaper web friendly. He brought in new ideas and him, the editor and the group put their heads together, their talents together and pulled out a 1st place plaque for the best web site for the company newspapers last night as well.

A few weeks ago, P was even interviewed for a montly newsletter called the Publishers Auxiliary, a National Newspaper. Unfortunately, the article painted P out great but left out key players in the creative process of the web page, and misquoted him in many places. What was worse, he spelled P's name wrong, named the wrong newspaper in one instance and just all around didn't do justice to the team that helped to create the website. It was really a punch in the gut. But all in the group have let P know that with the spelling errors and misquotes in the article, he needn't worry too much about what was written. All the same, P had a rough day the day that article came out.

I have refrained from writing my true feelings here. Those who lurk, (so called family and trolls) and misuse my blog for their own purposes have caused me to rein in my true feelings. And thats truly sad because there is so much more I would love to say about last night. But I can at least say this to my hubby:

Congratulations!!!!
