Ever hear of Columbine people? Or the numerous other students who went balistic on classmates, parents, or other adults they didn't like?
When the Secret Service finds it necessary to question ANYONE about their intentions towards the President of the United States, I would just like to say, You Go Guys! Even if it were my daughter or son!
I guess for me if they were questioning my children about personal matters, I too would react and raise a stink but regardless, in this situation, my children should be introduced to a little reality as to the magnitude of their 'childish antics' and on MySpace of all places!
This 14-year old girl needed a lesson in what is appropriate and what is not. Makes me wonder just what is being taught in that home! But I guess just because this girl and probably her family don't agree with Bush the invasion into their lives unannounced could be a problem for these parents. Oh, and First Amendment lawyers must also question whether the agents just went a little too far. After all, she's a sweet little girl who wears braces and has a heart on her backpack.
Maybe she isn't a threat but does that mean that what she did should be ignored and chalked up as child's play? Not in my book.
I don't know about anyone else but if a kid threatens someones life, it isn't a joke to me. It isn't something that I would just brush aside, I don't care how innocent I might think that child is, even my own, they need help! They need to be taught that you don't take another person's life and minimize it just because you don't agree with them!
And I have said this before, when I was growing up, it was VERY understood that there is a certain kind of respect for the President. I was taught that I don't have to like him but to make threats to his life automatically resulted in an investigation of my intentions, PERIOD! I got that, I understood that, and I teach that to my kids!
For this father to state that his daughter is not a 'credible threat'...all I can say is "daddio, you just keep your eyes WIDE shut and continue to condone this." If it were my kid, um, well, I would find it quite disturbing to say the least. The word 'kill' itself runs chills down my spine but to say it about another????? Wouldn't you want to correct that?
Ok, so I'm just a weird sort of person but to think that kids are innocent when their logo at their blog is 'Kill Bush', well....oh whatever. To each his own right?
