What parent wants this type of invasion?

Pat and I had our run in with the government and the prospect of losing our kids. It truly is amazing just how quickly an entity outside of the four walls, or 20 walls of a home can come in and raise havoc. And it's a feeling of complete and utter helplessness.

The slimy fingers of those who 'think' they know what's best for our kids can just creep in and do whatever the hell they want at any time. Bitter? You bet I am, a feeling that I don't think will ever subside. But it's also a learning experience that has taught me very much about just how easy it is for the government to do whatever they hell they want, when they want, how they want and get on their power trip and use that power to intimidate and belittle.

I realize this article comes out of Germany and they have different laws and such however, in the end, who exactly is the parent of the child. The ones who raise them or the ones who throw around their power? And yes, there are definately those out there who shouldn't have kids and I am thankful for a system that protects those kids.

Homeschoolers in Germany are really coming under fire. Because of an act created by Hitler way back in 1937, people, that one believes are mostly Christian, are being arrested, and jailed for homeschooling their kids.

I homeschooled for a year and a half and it was actually very rewarding. However, it was more than I could handle and I give praise to those who are out there doing what they feel is best for their kids. These are their kids and parents should be able to make important decisions in what they feel is best, right?

Well, apparently not in Germany. I ask in this post that all read this article and visit the link to the German Embassy and help those who believe in what they are doing with their kids. Some may believe that its none of our business but if I think about it, I ask myself, would I want this invasion into my home? My family? My beliefs?

I'm a firm believer in parents who want to do what's best for their kids, who want to teach them, who want to be part of their lives. The family unit needs to be stronger, not weakend by a 'power' that only assumes to know what's best. No one can parent my child they way that I can. I don't necessarily agree with all parenting, to each his own, but in this instance, homeschooling is a great way to be a family unit, to learn together, to create a bond.

For all who are parents, ask yourselves if put into the situation where you couldn't raise your kids the way you want, if something like this would really matter to you?
