Ahhhh, a four day weekend, whatever shall I do with myself! I have to say that I could really use the break. My daycare is busy as ever and I am exhausted. Not to mention battling the sickness from hell all week has more than sapped every ounce of energy I need just to get through the week. Ugh!
Well, to start, call me crazy but I am in the process of adding another animal to our already animal invested home....a new puppy! I'm overjoyed actually. It's a little one that I have wanted for a very long time, a little Yorkie. And man, is he ever cute!!!!!
This came about because as mine and Pat's marriage goes, we work on the "he gets something, I get something" bartering system. Or, vice versa.
I may have already mentioned this in a previous post but Pat is now the proud owner of a new motorcycle. Well, it isn't exactly new but it is most definately one of a kind and was purchased from a man who put a lot of love into it. It's a pretty bike and it was just too perfect for us to pass up. Good price, and it fits Pat perfect. Needless to say, it is saving us oodles of money in gas. This of course led me to believe in my mind that 'hey, I want something!' After all, we went way out of our way financially to purchase this new toy, therefore I saw no reason why I didn't deserve the same!
LOL, well. Pat and I have been discussing it for a couple of weeks now. Trying to figure out what I might want. Actually, there isn't much that I want for myself. New pots and pans, or a new mixer for the kitchen but as far as personally, I am not one to indulge myself. Everything I named off was something for the house or something that all of us could enjoy.
So last week Pat mentioned that I should get a horse. This of course is something that I have wanted since I was a little girl but we just never really had the means for one or the room. However, we now have a few friends and neighbors who have horses and would probably board one for me.
On the other side of that coin, wanting a horse and owning one are two totally separate ideas. Vet bills, boarding costs, feeding them, not to mention me taking riding lessons, well, I just didn't see that as being as easy as it seemed. The expense part was just too much.
I had thought of another camera but we already have 3 pretty nice cameras in this house that work great and that I wouldn't trade for nothing, so I ruled that out. My dark room was another option but again, the cost of running it just squashed that idea as well. Which left me with the little Yorkie.
This decision was met with a frustrated sigh, a roll of the eyes, and a, "well, if that's what you want, that's fine but don't expect me to do jack for this little dog!" Pat is so sweet and spoils me rotten and for that how could I not just melt into his arms.
So yesterday, we drove an hour to look at these little guys and to put some money down on one. I wanted to get the miniature one but didn't think that would be such a good idea with our big dog and all the kids that travel through this house. The poor little thing would get trampled to death. In the end, he should grow up to be about 8 pounds. I will get him in about a week or so and am beside myself with anticipation!
As far as a name? Well, we kind of have a theme going with our dogs....Brooks the Beagle, Reggie the Retriever so naturally we need to come up with a "Y" name. I thought of Yo-Yo but the kids and I decided that we would walk around doing the gesture that the gang guys do and saying 'Yo-No' and the poor thing would thinks it's name was 'yo-no'. Then there was Yoda, but again the kids didn't like that. I have even gone as far as to look up names on the internet that start with Y but nothing comes to mind. My one daughter suggested Yogi and so far that has been the name of choice. Pat even chimed in his thoughts and said, "Corkie the Yorkie" and I actually kind of liked that one but because it doesn't start with Y, the kids brushed it off.
So, I am asking for some ideas. Does anyone have a good name for a boy dog that starts with the letter Y?
Who woulda thought that naming a dog would cause me so much anguish........geez!
