Some things you just cannot take away from another

I was outside having a smoke today during a much needed break from the din of my house and our boy's caterpillar cage caught my eye. We have it outside this year because the mess from last year seems like just yesterday and it was quite disgusting.

Already there are 7 chrysalis hanging in there. I noticed too that the milkweed looked a little dried out.

He seems to have stopped on his hunt for his goal of 170+ for now. In fact, he seems to be 'ewwwwing' at various other bugs and has also developed a dislike for certain spiders. Hmmm, perhaps he is moving on now.

Anyway, I went down and grabbed some more milkweed and put it in the cage. At that point I decided that I would dig around and find the rest of his 'pillars and place them on the fruitful vines since they seemed to be desparately seeking more for their bellies. Once all was said and done I was in awe of all the caterpillars he has in this cage. Last year we had a lot but they were never all visible to the naked eye. I think I counted 20 of them just out creeping around and even found one crawling on the deck.

All those little miniscule ones are nearly ready to climb to the top and form into their chrysalis'. As I've said before, I think that I get more joy out of this than my son but the memories of my son and his bug-wonder will forever be within my heart.

Each of my kids will be recognized in posts tonight. I figured I would make them short and sweet but to the point. It's been far too long and my blog has been ignored...time for that to stop!
