Well, I do think it's been about a year that I have been doing this journal because I recall a post about this...hmmm, I should pay better attention. If in fact it's repetative, forgive me.
I don't think that Father's get enough credit, and that is just my opinion of course. Growing up watching my father work on cars, doing various jobs around the house, building things, working 24/7 to put food on the table and to give us things, being the strong arm of the law and demanding respect from his children has taught me many things in life.
Fathers are better capable of pushing their kids to experience things, to try new things. As a female, I soaked up all that my father did and he allowed me to get my hands dirty when he worked on a car or pound nails when he built something. And now? I simply say, I can do it and there's soap in the kitchen in which to wash my hands with.
Mom's have their jobs too and granted at times it seems like moms have more to do but a lot of times I think that's because we are pushovers and allow things that dad wouldn't. In other words, we dig our own graves. I learned that well in childhood as well as by being a mom.
Bottom line? Without a father for my children, my kids wouldn't be nearly as brag worthy as they are. I know that.
I hope that ALL you Fathers have the most relaxing and enjoyable Fathers Day. For Pat, well he got his new motorcycle, a book, a steak, and a day of rest. And a big thank you for being a GREAT Father to my kids and for backing me up when I run into brick walls with them.
I would like to extend Father's Day wishes to all those who are away for the war. I know that you can't be here with your families and that alone is very sad. But your cause is worth it and one day your kids will know that. You will be their hero!
Thank you to all those Dad's out there who do well by your kids. Who take the time to be there for them even if it's only a weekend job. You presence will matter in the end. Your love will mean more to them than you know.
Happy Dad's Day!!!!
