I haven't done a political post in some time now. Once in awhile I need a breather from the bantering that goes on. I cannot take the blindness and the hate that I see out there. It really saddens me a great deal.
I haven't really been keeping up on too much but have seen things here and there about how Bush lied about the levee breach. From what I'm seeing out there, there are some who are standing on their pedestals and gloating about what a liar this President is. It's an obsessive thing it seems.
Sad people in this country. I guess Bush could've stood in the face of the storm and repaired those levees long before the breach occurred since he is God's follower. I'm sure those that HATE this man so much would have said, 'Good Riddance'! Despicable group of people you are. What a disgrace to the human race!
"But a videotape of a key meeting between Bush and hurricane officials supports the president’s contention that the breaching of the levees was unanticipated.
On September 1, four days after Katrina struck, Bush said: "I don’t think anybody anticipated a breach of the levees.”
The Associated Press on Wednesday claimed that "federal disaster officials warned President Bush and his homeland security chief before Hurricane Katrina struck that the storm could breach levees.”
The Democratic National Committee attempted to make political hay out of the AP report, stating that "during the briefing, National Hurricane Center Director Max Mayfield told the president that the integrity of the levees was ‘a very, very grave concern’ that the president appears to have ignored.”
However, the tape shows that what Mayfield actually told Bush was: "I don’t think any model can tell you with any confidence right now whether the levees will be topped or not, but that’s obviously a very, very grave concern.”
I guess my question is, 'Who is really lying?' The Democratic National Committee or Bush? The TAPE shows, yes an actual video tape, that no mention of the integrity of the levees was ever even a whisper in the ear of "National Hurricane Center Director Max Mayfield".
So does this constitute the President lying? No one was prepared for what occurred in New Orleans! NO ONE including Nagin or Blanco. In fact Blanco wasn't even concerned about a levee breach, hmmmm, I guess that makes her a liar too then huh!
"Mayfield told NBC News on Thursday that he warned only that the levees might be topped – that is, the storm surge could push water over the top of the levees – not breached, and that on the many conference calls he monitored, "Nobody talked about the possibility of a levee breach or failure until after it happened.”
The Associated Press has now issued a clarification. Will the gloating stop or will it be politics over truth.
