Who I am in a nutshell: "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success." **Ralph Waldo Emerson**

It's a road for pete's sake
Debate begins: Elegant simplicity or uninspired slab?
What is it with people? The idea of what looks good is such a huge issue for so many. In the case of the bridge that needs to be rebuilt, the battle is only just beginning.
Personally, I see nothing wrong with the new design, it's a road that will get folks across the water and to the other side....PERIOD. If it's safe and if it gets from point A to point B then in my eyes, who cares!!!!
Perhaps I'm not all about material things or keeping up with the Joneses. Perhaps there's much more important things in life then making sure that everything is perfectly beautiful.
People want to complain because there's not enough money, people want to complain because it will cost too much, yet when the figures come in, over-budget I might add, people aren't satisfied with the way it looks. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
