Support our Troops--Adopt a Soldier and be a Soldiers Angel

Those who set up the Wednesday Hero postings have a challenge for everyone out there. Although, I don't know that I would call it a challenge. It would be more like a call for all those out there who support our troops to step it up a notch and support them.

There's an organization called Soldiers Angels. It was started by a mom who's son has served this country and completed his mission in Iraq. She began this as just another mom who wanted to support the troops because there were many soldiers out there who didn't receive mail, cards or anything to help keep their moral up. Her son had written her letters explaining this to her. Soon, as she spread word to family and friends, this thoughtful idea soon blew up into something that many of you may or may not know about.

What has been presented to us by the Wednesday Hero crew is that we have 5 people sign up to be a Soldier's Angel by Sunday. What happens is you sign up to adopt a soldier over seas. You correspond with him or her via snail mail or email, send care pacakages if you can, and simply be their friend and help to keep them upbeat. It's a long lonely journey for the troops to be shipped out so far away from what they call home.

There is definately more things on the Soldier's Angels website that can be done...this is just a small moment out of everyone's life to remember that there are American Troops over seas fighting and making much bigger sacrifices then you or I are here in the posh settings of our offices or living rooms. Please take a moment and click on the links and consider what this might mean to you if you were the one fighting away from the comforts and luxuries of home.
