The more I read the Telegraph the more relieved I am to not live in the U.K.
'Too much' to ask children to talk about Qur'an
Teaching 3-5yr. olds this sort of thing? Kids are sponges, I'll give them that but shouldn't they be focusing more on their alphabet, numbers, colors, shapes, and learning to tie their shoes or something? This is as bad as teaching a 6-month old how to go potty on the toilet....yes, there is actually such a group of moms out there. I bet if you did a google search you would find it and just how wonderful it is. I read that about a year ago in one of my rag mags. The shock value of that one nearly caused me to hyper-ventilate.
Crazy ideas are being tested on these kids of today. Sure, make them smarter and more aware, I'm all for that but they should first be able to pronounce MY name correctly. And I have learned over the years that that is quite difficult for 3-5 year olds...Lwann, Lenn, Lann, Wann, Ann, etc.
It's quite entertaining really to hear the different pronunciations these little ones come up with for me but it just proves that kids of these ages don't have the verbal capacity of forming complex words. Or maybe that's why this is occuring....either way, words such as cinnamon or spaghetti would better serve their abilities. No reason to teach these kids about different religions at this age, THEY DON'T REALLY CARE!
Dolls, trucks, pencils, crayons, paper, fingerpainting...that is what kids are all about. Just let them be kids!
Who I am in a nutshell: "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success." **Ralph Waldo Emerson**
