When did eggs become deadly?

Does anyone remember back when they were kids anymore? All the antics? Throwing apples at moving cars or eggs or toilet papering someone's yard? I never did partake in things like this, I was too chicken but I do know kids/people who did. And usually if they were caught, a few harsh words were thrown at them or they were dragged back home to mom and dad for a much deserved punishment. And an apology was demanded.

A boy was shot because of child's play. Throwing eggs at cars. No, he shouldn't have been doing that but why adults are so uptight is beyond me. Yes, I know eggs wreak havoc on the paint job but that's what insurance is for--the parents of the child should help take care of this and administer whatever punishment they see fit. But for a 14-year old boy to be shot and killed for throwing eggs...it brings tears to my eyes.
