Update

I just want to thank all of those out there who sent their prayers and well wishes to my father and our family. My father is home and well after quite a big scare.

It was quite a week last week with his health and one of those days was a touch and go day where none of us were too sure what was to be. My dad's blood pressure was high, his blood sugar was low and the docs were having a heck of a time stablizing him.

Needless to say, he was to come home on Thursday but the kept him until Friday so they could make sure that he was good to go. His blood sugar was still slightly low on Thursday so I'm glad they did that.

On the other end of that, everytime I would talk to my mom she sounded just dead tired. A couple of days there she ran a slight fever and had a headache. Everytime she would sit down just to get a rest at home, the phone would ring or company would come a knocking. I and as far as I know a couple of other siblings were telling her to just take it easy. She wasn't getting much sleep and when she would wake she would get up and start cleaning the house. I'm not talking dishes or sweeping, I mean cleaning!

There was a glitch in all of the timing of this. There was a big family gathering planned for my parents Anniversary--well, that's what it was originally supposed to be but then my father wanted it to be a party for my mom's birthday. Confusing and long story. But anyway, it was to be on Saturday. And 100-125 people were expected and it seemed as though all showed.

Many of us were worried the toll this would take on both the parents because of the hellish week. My parents were expecting company on Thursday that would be there until Saturday night so even if my father was released on Thursday, he would not be getting much rest or recuperation time. UGH!

So anyway, long story short, I phoned my mom today to wish her a happy birthday and found out they're doing 'ok'. My dad had a little diabetic episode this morning but he is doing better now. But both are extremely worn out and trying to catch up on some rest.

What will happen from this point on is a mystery. Knowing what is yet to come is probably the hardest concept to grasp but we all know it's unavoidable. But for now, my parents are doing ok and that's what really matters.

Thank you again all for your kindness and emails.
