WorldNetDaily: Game of tag banned on playground
I remember not too long ago I did a post on something similar to this. No Running on the playground I believe it was called. It may have been in my other journal but all the same, I did that post.
When did it become to dangerous to be a child? When did it become too dangerous for running, jumping, or playing games out on the playgrounds? Is it because people are so hell bent on suing anyone they can find? Is it because people don't want to allow children to be children? Or perhaps the minute a child is born they should immediately be hooked up to a drip of ridlan and turned into zombies.
I know that when winter is here, the kids are much more rambuncuos and irritable. Come spring/summer/fall when they can be outside and running to their hearts content is when they are really, well, content! Running in the house rules around here are much more prominent in the winter because all kids want to do is run, play games. That is when my daycare kids giggle when they fall down, giggle with the prospect of another child trying to catch them. It is when the true heart of a child comes out, that fun.
There is simply no fun in this world anymore. Perhaps because adults have no time anymore to enjoy life because they are too busy making money to pay their debts, then the children should be subject to that same sort of lifestyle.
I'm a bitter-babe today. I have my 4 kids that I love to hear laugh, that Pat and I love to ambush in the summer with water balloons or the super soakers. My kids and I love to ambush people with buckets of water.
Tag, a simple game that has been around forever, running, a common practice not only in humans but animals...If I restrict my dogs to a kennel for the duration of their life, well then I am a negligent pet owner, I am hindering them from having space to run and be free.
To hinder a child from a natural ability, a natural response to human interaction and physical stimuli, well is that too not considered negligent? To take away a childs 'right' to be a child?
I am thankful everyday that my kids are allowed to be kids. That they can play tag and soccer to their hearts content on the playground and get pushed down and laugh about it. My son looks so forward to his recess soccer games every single day and comes home with bruises and laughing about how he had the ball and got pushed out of the way and fell. If the school elected to remove this very necessary element of physical education from the children I would storm down the doors and demand that my son be able to play.
The schools preach about exercise yet try to limit it. Kids get more exercise doing these extracurricular and fun activities on a daily basis than I probably do in a week of daycare! Not everything needs to be scheduled, allow the kids to be kids and let them PLAY!!!!!!
