These Roses are for you......Ahhhh, Valentine's Day...the day of love. Some roll their eyes and scoff at this day but I'm a hopeless romantic and this is probably one of my most favorite days of the year. Red, hearts, love, romance, roses; I just love this day. Since I was a little girl but more so since 1985.
Back in 1985, both of us Sophomores in high school, well it was on this day 21 years ago that Pat and I made "Us" official. Oh, he had asked me to be his girlfriend on the 13th but I being such a girl said "nope, ask me again tomorrow". He obliged of course and so began our journey that has brought us to today.
We always tell people that we met in Health class during the dreaded 'sex education' unit. In fact, this is actually the truth. He came to our highschool mid-term and him and I had the same Health class. Our teacher was a short little old man who blushed at the mere mention of the word 'sex' among other things. He was a favorite among many of us students.
Pat was only at the school a few short weeks before we started dating. He came during 'Snow Week' when all the activities occurred....dress up days, ribbon days, Snow Dance, etc. Much of this tale is just too long and perhaps boring to get into so I won't. I personally don't find it to be boring but others may.
The things that Pat had to go through in which to finally 'land' me were comical and I still to this day don't hear the end of what he had to endure but ultimately, we hooked up obviously and the rest is history as they say.
So my dear Patrick, THANK YOU, for all these wonderful years, for loving me and standing by my side through everything that we have been through. There is so much more that I would love to say but my readers may really think I'm loopy or something. But to you I wish you a Very Happy Valentine's Day and look forward to many more with you.
