Just too disgusted for words

Our son is 10, he's a great great kid with rare moments of defiance and back talking. But overall, he's just an all around rambunctious boy.

Reading this article just makes all sorts of things go through my head...mostly, WHY???? The fact that the mother brought this child back in the house when he tried to escape...will she also be charged with endangerment and aiding and abetting?

A boy must be pretty desperate to seek refuge in an oven!!! And then for his own father (or mother???) to turn it on while he's hiding?

Oh, and along the abusive lines...this daycare provider has been safety-pinning daycare kids to beds after taking their arms out of their jammies and pinning the material together behind their backs making kiddie straight jacket. Eight years she's been getting away with this...what the hell is wrong with people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Freedom

What is wrong with people in this country???? Thanksgiving is about being thankful. Should it not be an ongoing education for kids about how this day came to be? About why we celebrate? Its not religious, its not about racial stereotypes...that just makes my blood boil every time I see that statement in this article!

If you don't want your kids to celebrate or dress up in costume for a long standing tradition in school then keep them home and teach them how to be selfish! Teach them to be ungrateful, teach them how it's racist to reenact a day in history! Or better yet, simply write a note to the school asking them to please remove your child from the festivities. People do that where I work and our school kindly obliges.

I've seen more racist, sexual, horribly violent things done by actors on the big screen, and I will point out that parents ALLOW their kids to watch these things or even to play video games that portray terrorists killing our own soldiers! THIS is ok! But dressing the kids in little pilgrim hats and Indian costumes is DEMEANING AND RACIST????? What the hell kind of logic is this??!

And this school backs down to this tradition that's been going on for decades???? For pete's sake, where are the spines? Where are the beliefs and the knowledge that history is important for many reasons in this country, a reminder of how it got to this point? Freedoms that so many take for granted and take advantage of, such as this.

I suggest that maybe if parents are going to be so outrageously petty about this or that that they should maybe consider looking into all of this BEFORE they decide to live in a city or a town. Or maybe they should just ... oh forget it!

I just cannot tell you how very irritated I am about this. What's most irritating is that every once in awhile, I sit and ponder all the restrictions that have popped up over the last 5-10 years and I come to the realization that if some day, people don't start fighting and defending things that are important, it will be too late to regain any sort of voice over those who so badly want to drown out what is most important in this country........

Turning the minds of children plastic

Plastic surgery...hmmm. I really don't agree with it but that's just me I guess. Now there's a book about it written especially for kids? WELL...

Mommy looks prettier now, how shallow is that? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder isn't it? It comes from within right? Basing our opinions of others on the way they look, that is just wrong! But again, that's just me.

My personal opinion? Need I even speak it?

Parents step up to the plate and back the school on this one

There was a news story out of Eden Prairie MN that really frustrated me. Some high school kids are being suspended from school for drinking. Around 42 of them were questioned.

Now, these kids, not sure which one, posted pictures of themselves on Facebook.com with bottles of alcohol laying on tables, holding glasses...etc. The school received a complaint of sorts and investigated further and found this damning evidence.

(Thanks to Pat, the one who always sees the complete picture; the only proof that these kids were drinking are pics of them holding cups with a liquid...apple juice as one girl put it while there are numerous beer/alcohol bottles on the table in front of them...and he is right. [But he always has to burst my bubble!!!! waaahhh!] But his logic points out some gray areas with all of this which I will let my readers haggle out. And again, I agree)

ANYWAY,

According to various articles/news stories, 13 of those pictured were athletes and/or captain's of school related sports teams. For as long as I was in school, drinking, drugs, and smoking were absolutely NOT allowed if you were in sports. But that's not to say that athletes didn't do any of the above.

I read an article last night about it and of course, parents and kids, are outraged. Not at the children but with the school for violating the kids' rights. WHAT??????

Most of us know that teens do drink, that it's almost impossible to stop them; teens are very sly creatures. It's a fact of life when a person is a teenager. The experimental phase. But most parents, if they were to find out, would be forever grateful for a punishment like this imposed on their child...C-O-N-S-E-Q-U-E-N-C-E-S! HELLO.

Most kids want to learn on their own, want to make their own mistakes. Ok, well, life lesson kiddies! There have been maybe 4 deaths of young adults around Minnesota in the last month or so...how??? Drinking themselves to death. Wake up.

I like to indulge on occasion, have fun, who doesn't? However, I know now what I didn't know when I was a kid...control. It's a miracle that I'm still alive today to complain about this!

Now the controversy about their rights being violated? Well, perhaps they shouldn't have posted their pictures on the internet for all the world to see, including the school. It's the world's right to surf the internet. Free speech is a wonderful thing isn't it kids? Life lesson number 2.
Laurent said he agrees that student drinking should be punished, but thinks the suspensions were too severe.
While the first part of this sentence is nice to hear from a student's mouth, the last part of it is quite contradictory. And wait, a student thinks that suspension is too severe? When did they make the school rules...is that next on the agenda for the school board?

It's great that the kids are taking a stand but for what? Alcohol consumption, freedom to display it all over the place and advertise their delinquencies. They're utilizing their rights but honestly, wouldn't it be more productive to be protesting something worth while? Something that will make a positive impact?

And the parents really need to wise up or one day their child will be drinking and driving and end up killing an innocent person....how then, will they feel about their outrage over their child's rights?!

UPDATE: While verifying my links that I put up here, I discovered that one of them was updated while I was blathering...It seems that there are STUDENTS protesting the protesters!!!!! Yehaaw! While I don't know much about this, it's nice to see that maybe there are kids and parents out there who believe in reaping what you sow.....who knows.

A little control is all it takes

Some might find this to be ridiculous while others might see some sense in it.

Police say pizza toss was assault

Drinking at little league games...is that normal? I don't know if it is or not, our kids don't play baseball and usually at our soccer tournaments there isn't anyone drinking. I guess, to me, why would you drink at a kids event like that? That's just me I guess.

But anyway, a mom throwing pizza at the umpire. Small potatoes right? Well, yes. There wasn't a knock-down drag out brawl that took place or anything, just a slice of pizza.

I guess my point with this is that these are little kids playing sports. They aren't making any money, they aren't pros, and it's certainly not worth it for the 'adults' to act worse then the children when the kids lose! That isn't really teaching the kids to be good sports and suck it up when they lose or get called out is it?

I've found myself upset many times with the calls in soccer games but not to the point where I want to lunge at them or throw things. Stupid calls are made even in pro sports, that's why they made those sponge bricks for people to throw at the tv.

I really, in my own opinion, think that the 'adults' take things way to far when it comes to sports and their kids. Charging this woman for throwing a slice of pizza I think is a valid charge. It's small things like a simple peice of pizza that could lead to much worse. And the worst part of this all is the kids who have to witness this behavior of their parents, who are the child of that parent...imagine the road that's been paved for these kids with parents who just cannot control themselves.

The slippery slope of observation seems to be the last thing on the minds of parents in these types of situations. And that's really sad. Adults are supposed to set examples but sometimes I see the kids setting better examples then the 'adults'. Makes me wonder just who is raising who sometimes.

Double Whammy

Most would feel sympathy for this couple who plunged into the river the day of the bridge collapse. While the mother swam to the surface to save herself, she saw her daughter's blanket floating not too far away.

When they went down, they were on their way to Children's Hospital to visit the woman's 2-year old daughter who was in critical condition from a 'fall down the stairs'. Brain injuries, a burn on the leg, human bite marks, bruises we're all part of the condition of the little girl. According to the reports in the paper anyway.

Survivor of 35W bridge suspected of child abuse

Wisconsin bridge collapse survivor lands in county jail--umm, I didn't know a bridge collapsed in Wisconsin...an obvious typo that's quite critical if you ask me.

If this is a witch hunt because this guy has a record, shame on them but if in fact this man hurt this little girl, perhaps he was meant to go down that day on the bridge. And if the woman is covering for him or was involved, she too was meant the same fate.

What goes around comes around and eventually gets you! I feel most for the family of these people having to deal with this little girl near death and then the bridge falling. Things happen for a reason, they don't know if this little girl will live or not.

I have much to say but it's that nasty and mean bone in me that is screaming. I will leave it at this and move on in my day and pray for the little girl and the extended family who must deal with this!

Beautiful does not equal suitable!

What is it about outer beauty that skews the image of what might lurk inside? Why do people see a beautiful house and just rule out that there might be horrible things going on inside of it? Why do people see a beautiful person and believe that person is a good human being when inside they're selfish, and ugly as sin?

This woman is what lurked inside this beautiful house. And she did some ugly, ugly things.

Is this what adoption is all about? Walking dollar signs that get tied to each other while the supposed 'parents' are enjoying all their 'hard work'?

And who is it exactly that allowed this woman to adopt these ki...oops, I mean 'dollar signs'? Do those who adopt out also get a commission when they off load a burden?

Read for yourself cuz I'm mad as a wet hen about this! It's bad enough that people kill their kids but doing this while the children suffer endlessly is unforgiveable and this woman could stand to....I will not even say what's on my mind!

Is this a crime?

Andover woman arrested after leaving her baby in locked vehicle

Every year there's always someone who leaves their kids locked in the car for a 'quick' run into the store.

Either these people don't have a clue, they don't watch the news, or they just don't care but no matter, in my eyes, this is a crime....child endangerment and these people need to go through some serious parenting classes that teach them. Or perhaps they should just lock themselves in a car on a 90 degree day for a 1/2 hour and see how well they can handle it!

Where are the brains!

Inappropriate but not criminal

I commented in my comment section that I was on the hunt for something to gripe about....well, here it is.

I started reading this story early this morning but then my computer froze up, I couldn't read the rest...it was a different link then the one that was sent to me, and then I rebooted the computer at which time the mail came and I discovered that I'm officially a student at the local community college...at which time I was so excited that I just had to go on-line and look around the website of the college and try to get my classes. Pointless, have much to do before I can register for classes...like take my placement test, go through orientation, etc.

But anyway, the gripe. It's been on my mind all day because honestly, it's ridiculous, outrageous, and criminal and I kept telling myself that that is the thing I must post on. So later in the day I received an email from my 'Sunshine', and she of course saw my comment and said that I should gripe about this...Thanks sis.

Boys Face Trial Over Slapping Charges

13-year old boys slapping girls on the behinds during school. Oh, and girls doing much of the same to the boys.

Boys being questioned by school officials as well as the cops, without the parents knowledge and then being dragged to jail. The charges were: "The boys were initially charged with five counts of felony sexual abuse."

Boys being charged with CRIMES and labeled sex offenders while girls say, "It's like a handshake we do," one girl said, according to the police report."

Ya know, this just irks me! Kids are just not allowed to freedom to be kids...well they are to an extent but what about them being TAUGHT what's appropriate and inappropriate behavior? Mom? Dad? Advisors? Counselors? Teachers? Hall monitors?

Hellooooooo!!! My girls have come home on a few occasions and discussed this sort of 'handshake' in the hallways at school. They are just as guilty as the boys are....My rememdy? 1) If you don't like the boys doing it then tell them to stop, if they don't, 2) tell them it could be considered sexual harassment and also letting my daughters know that their behavior is less then appropriate and they too are sexually harrassing, 3) if that don't work, I tell them I'll call the school and speak to the principal and demand that the school takes care of this behavior.

In one instance, I did have to call the school and told them that if they didn't take care of the matter, I would be calling the police and discussing it with them--amazing how quickly the action was taken by the school and no cops needed to be involved...just better supervision.

9 times out of 10 by step 2 of my suggestions, the problem is over and done. Do I like threatening kids? Hell no but these are kids, they don't know any better and frankly, it's up to the adults to help them to learn the rules. Yes, cops are adults but cops are for adult sex offenders in my eyes. If a kid is persistent, tries ripping the clothes off my daughter, harms her or leaves bruises then you damn right I'll report it to the cops! But a smack on the butt?

My son, he's 8 now. He has been reprimanded on many occasions for slapping his sister on the bum...does that make HIM a sexual monster? Or a molester? Oh, for the record? His behavior in that respect has been remedied! So before any nimrod who believes that a slap on the arse is considered a crime picks up a phone and reports my son....you know where you can shove that phone!

For pete's sake people, wake the hell up. I don't condone this kind of behavior obviously but to label these boys, slap the cuffs on them, put them in jail, and keep them away from those of the opposite sex and younger children...they are 13-years old!

Why is it an 18-year old who enlists in the military is just a 'baby' yet in this instance these boys are being treated like 50-year old men having obscene sex with 12 year old girls? WHY is that?!!!!!!

Come one, come all!!!!

Wow, that must've been some party! An open invitation on your mySpace would definately bring them from all directions.

What REALLY happened at the Myspace party from hell

This poor mom...walking into this:
Meanwhile, inside the house, partygoer 'Nicky' described the unfolding nightmare in her unique way. Her e-mail description read: "it was like a totall free for all. going threw every draw wardrobe in the house taking clothes from anywhere, a fish hook was found in the draw of rachaels brothers room and was used to carv names in the wall.

"wardrobe doors where pulled off and left on the landing for people to stamp on, door handles actully inscrewed off so people wouldnt interupt the 'yobs' having sex in everyroom in frount of all to see.

"lights in the ceiling were pulled out of the ceiling the wires snapped, the carpets were all light colours, they were black with in minuets. bed sheets where urinated on but still people slept on them, the bath was cracked off people kicking it, the toilet seemed to be dismantled, mirrors smashed, the walls were urinated on, drink was spilt up the walls on the carpets the curtains were pulled down and ripped. 'at one point, in the sitting room 4 people walked in took the radiator off the wall walked out and when we finally left in the mornin seen it dumped at the side of the road 5 minets from rachaels house."

Although should I really feel sorry for her?

Mrs Bell, while still fuming at her daughter for having the party in the first place, believes her about the webspace tampering.

She said: "Rachael has never done anything like this before, and there was nothing to suggest she would. She may have had the odd friend round, but that's all.

"I'm 99.9per cent sure she's telling the truth when she says that she was not responsible for what happened.

"No one knew I was going away until the Saturday, which was just two days before the party - Rachael wouldn't have had time to arrange a party on such a big scale. Someone else is behind it.

"She only planned to have a few friends round, I'm sure of that."

Naturally, Mrs Bell may want to believe her daughter, but the fact is that someone did organise the party in a short space of time.

Another reason she chooses to believe her daughter is that Rachael removed all the knives in the kitchen drawer and took the television and china from the living room and put them away.

Curiously, she even taped over the clothes drawers to deter anyone from opening them. Mrs Bell draws a comforting conclusion from this: "To my mind those are not the actions of someone who was planning to let the house be smashed up."

After reading that, I have to wonder if this is a mom in denial or if she is just really as clueless about teenagers and the things they do on-line.

Wish this would happen more often!

Bravo to this school official for doing what should be done. Well endowed or not, teens need to be taught a little self respect for their bodies. There's simply too much skin in high schools these days and too many 'adults' who see nothing wrong with it.

And another lesson? Following the rules that the school has as far as proper attire. Prom or not, hundreds of dollars or not, both the kids and the parents should have read the student handbook a little more thoroughly before they purchased that skimpy dress that shows too much cleaveage. There's enough of that on the television, why wouldn't parents want to adhere to the policies, take the girl home and fix the dress so their daughter can attend what could be a very memorable night. If anything, these girls should be mad at their parents, not the school. The school has a handbook...read it.

These kids are teenagers, they need to learn to have dignity, respect for rules and authority, and they need to stop their whining about all the money they spent. And the parent's need to shut their yaps and do the same.

I guess rather than coming up with a way in which to fix the dress, it's just easier to whine and kick and scream in order to get your own way. Sorry parents and students in this predicament, this mom certainly isn't going to balk at some guidelines that were obviously ignored by you.

Something different

Why are kids getting violent with their parents/guardians?

Violence against guardians an 'alarming trend'

Murder, plain and simple...there is no pity in my heart for murder!

In Minnesota there is a law that protects young mom's who drop a newborn infant at any hospital in the state. These mom's have 72 hours in which to do this with no questions asked. A law that was put in place to not only protect the babies but to give young kids who don't want their babies an 'out' to keep them from dumping them on the side of the road like a stray dog or worse, doing something heinous like this!

An Oakdale newborn's grisly death: She was stabbed 135 times

Stabbing a newborn this many times? What must that poor little baby have looked like after such a vicious act?
To feel bad for this teen is not something I can find in my heart. She had choices, she had options but she chose to act this way.

Pity her childhood? No room in my heart when an innocent baby is murdered like this! There are just some things in this world that there are no damn excuses for! Murdering a newly born baby just because her finger moved is definately one of them!

Should the teacher have intervened?

...."Cat Fight!!!!.....

It seems that girls fighting has been in the news a little more these days. This story just another example.

Now, this teacher, a male, is being accused of standing by and letting the fight go on.

The big question is, should he have intervened and broken up this fight or should he have done exactly what he was supposed to do and call an administrator?

If it were my daughter, the school policy being that administration is to be called immediately, but the fight goes on, would I be upset? If my daughter was near death, hell yes. If my daughter is dumb enough to get into a fight in the first place and have a few bruises? Probably not. I would be more angry with my daughter and this other girl than I would at the teacher. But that's just me.

It brings to mind the mosh pit in our daughter's middle school and the day our daughter came home with a broken wrist. In that situation, teachers/authorities were not monitoring the hallways, they were ignoring the chaos, they didn't call us to let us know our daughter was hurt, and they wouldn't allow our daughter to go to the nurse. My anger was directed at the school due to negligence in more than one sense. But we took care of the problem and didn't call the local media nor did we sue them. And our daughter was reprimanded accordingly by us for involving herself in something completely inappropriate for the school hallway.

Ok, my take on this cat fight. If this teacher, a male, had broken up these two female girls fighting, what are the chances that his hand, while trying to intervene, could have brushed up on an area of the girl that some would deem, inappropriate? What are the chances that in the end, this teacher would be labeled a sick man, brought up on charges for assault or sexual misconduct? I may be reaching here but honestly, in society today, certain measures must be taken in order to protect yourself. But I notice in the article, a female administrator was brought in to break up this fight between the two girls. In this case, school protocol was followed. In the case of our daughter's broken wrist, it took a few phone calls from us parents to create some sort of stir to get the school to even act or notice. Hello!

He was following protocal, lets nail the jerk because he was following school policy...give me a break! People will go to any length to take the focus off of their unruly kids, to pin the blame on another.

I am so sick and tired of this mentality that I could puke! Taking accountability for the actions of yourself or your children is so lacking in this country. I just don't get it.

In my eyes, this teacher was damned if he did and damned if he didn't!

The Evils that lurk

People scream about torture by the soldiers at Gitmo.

Why don't they ask these kids what torture really is.

Scrape her from head to toe with sandpaper, force her to eat the feces of dogs, make her rat stew, make her eat and drink her own vomit--subject her to the same cruelty and suffering that she inflicted upon these children.

What an evil witch!!!!!!

Woman drowns and beheads her 6-yr.old daughter

Why exactly were the protective services tipping off the police in this matter? Was this woman already under investigation? Were they suspicious? Why in God's name didn't the protective services do something about this less than human woman who would do such a vicious thing to her own daughter!!!!

Woman guilty of killing her daughter

A case where my questions are many for a system that is supposed to help the children. Whatever.

This poor little girl, may she rest in peace once this bitch is put behind bars. And forget the insanity defense, this woman is a cold blooded murderer! This woman didn't deserve children and I am happy that they are working on a protective order to keep her away from her other two children. Insane or not, lock her up and throw away the damn key!

This is really sad

13-year-old racks up 128 charges during alleged crime spree

What exactly does the stepfather mean when he says:
His stepfather said Riley had a rough childhood.

"He's our oldest, you know. He's our first born and he's been through a lot," said Blake.

Many ugly images come to mind with a response like that but I must refrain.

As far as this little boy? Negligence, abuse, psychological, emotion, physical...would these possibly be contributing factors?

As usual my first response to this is to assume that parenting is somehow to blame. The kid is reaching out for some sort of attention in my opinion. And with a response like this following charges--over 100 against a 13-year old boy...

There was no mention of an investigation into the parents of this boy but I do hope that it's an option. I don't believe that people are naturally born to commit crimes, that the victim card does actually play a role. Adults don't get a free pass with me. Take responsibility for your screw ups. Those who commit crimes when they are adults have been around long enough to know better, they just choose not to!

I allow that victim card for children simply because they are born to people who are supposed to parent them, to teach them right from wrong. Sometimes life isn't as flowery as I see it in my mind I guess.

The car seat did it!!!!!

Criminal checks should be run on potential parents. Those with a history of hurting children should be castrated, have their tubes tied. Yes, this is extreme but the kids are the ones who end up suffering the most when the wrong people have kids.

In this instance, conjoined twin boys. A successful separation was done and they go home. One of these little ones ends up in the emergency room with 24 fractures!!!!! 16 broken ribs, leg broken in 8 different places....and a mere 2-months after a pretty traumatic surgery!

Conjoined twins' parents charged with abuse

Is it not enough that these kids have already been through more than most adults medically??????

The so called 'parents' claim it must have been the car seats fault. And I thought I had heard them all.....

The worth of a baby-$1500

Police say mother sold 5-month-old

If they want to participate in human trafficking go back to Mexico and do so! Sorry, that is a very bold statement but the life of a baby being bartered for a measley $1500. I don't think I would feel worth that much if someone bought and sold me for $1500. The least they could have done was offer $1555. Enough to get gas for this womans car then.

Which is worse, the mother who sold the baby and bought a car with that money or the people who bought the baby? I can't decide.

The mom is in this country illegally to boot. So as I said, go back to your own homeland and practice your inhumane, and illegal practices! Oh, perhaps that's why she wanted a car. Come to America for the health care and then flee the country when you get that nice new car for the life of your baby!

As the media panders to the emotions of the illegals, how hard their life is, I get more and more angry about this issue. I apologize for my cold and heartless post here but there are times when I need to be angry! This is one of them.

Come to America all you want but respect it's laws and what this country can offer you because of its laws.

This woman has some big kajones!!

First and foremost, you really have got to LOVE this headline. Stripped naked...in my eyes this child was completely unclothed standing in all his glory for his classmates to see. God, I just love how the MSM words things so maliciously.

Second Grader Stripped Naked, Spanked in Front of Classmates

If the aunt had a good reason for this spanking, then all the power to her. And frankly, I do like how the school originally handled it. And the teacher obviously didn't see what this woman did as abusive but more of a form a discipline because she stood and watched.
"Certainly if there is a reason to contact social services regarding an adult's actions we would do that," said John White, Prince George's County School District."

"On Monday, it's principal sent a letter home to parents saying:
"Please know that the incident is a family matter and should not have occurred in a school setting. All interactions were between the child and a family member."

They respected the family in this matter, until a parent had to call in and cried foul. Shocker!

Maybe the pulling down of the pants in front of the class could have been a little too much but I can tell you this, that boy will NEVER forget that moment of his life. I just hope that he sways in the direction of appreciating it and not blaming it for some mental disorder because that's what society would teach him to do.

Didn't punishment of a swat on the fingers with a ruler or a whipping occur in schools way back when? And not by the parents but by the teacher? If kids were coming home with black eyes or multiple bruises all over them, I may have said...hey, if you can beat my child than I guess I can too. But for another to spank my child probably wouldn't sit well with me.

Kudos to this aunt for bravely doing something that in this day and age is so damn controversial, it has caused many parents to back off and fear a simple good old fashioned spanking.
